Skin Deep

"Your hair and skin are fed by the bloodstream so if there are difficulties in those areas it will be carried through to the hair and skin.” -Anonymous.

The condition of our skin reveals just how healthy we truly are. If you were to take a look at your skin would you be able to give an accurate description? Is it rough, dry, dull, acne prone? Do you see eczema or psoriasis? Or is it bright, youthful and moisturized?

Our skin tells the story of what is happening on the inside of our bodies. If we are willing to make the necessary steps to create that harmonious balance on the inside it can be as simple as a few days of detoxifying the blood stream or adding nutrient rich foods to our diet.

Make a clean start! The liver becomes overwhelmed by all the toxic matter we put into our bodies daily. So let’s help the liver do its job. Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning… Works! Lemons and the liver are sweethearts. The liver is part of the body’s natural filtration system and lemon juice is a natural cleanser so it helps to control harmful organisms and stimulate digestive juices in the stomach.

Other ways to detox are dry brushing, oil pulling, drinking detoxifying teas like ginger, turmeric, milk thistle plus eat tons of vegetables! Pay attention to nutrient rich foods especially those containing Vitamin A, Zinc, Vitamin C, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Biotin, Vitamin E, Vitamin B5, Selenium, Silica, Niacin, Probiotics and Vitamin K2.   Don’t forget, WATER!

Here are some foods that are great for your skin:

Strawberries are a rich source of Vitamin C and this helps with firming the skin and collagen production.

Almonds contain Vitamin E and act as an antioxidant to help clear toxins and protect the skin cell from harmful UV rays and other environmental hazards.

Carrots are packed with beta carotene and antioxidants that become Vitamin A inside the body so eat your carrots.

Salmon (preferably wild caught) help to ward off fine lines and wrinkles by improving the skin’s elasticity and prevents pores from clogging.
